Creative and Courageous Psychotherapy

"Nothing goes away until it has taught us what we need to know."* When we are suffering in this world, there are usually patterns of suffering that have hold of us. If we confront the patterns, they can teach us. I know it takes courage to walk through the door of a therapist's office. Let me give space to face the hard stuff, heal, and thrive.

About

Healing what matters to you.

I am a trauma-informed therapist. I will hold space for you to grow toward a sense of wholeness, meaning, and hope, with an integrative therapy that is tailored to your needs. My three threads of specialty are anxiety, relationships/couples, and trauma. The work we do in therapy may include help with anxiety and mood disorders, self-esteem/identity, trauma (PTSD, childhood trauma, religious trauma), spirituality, life transitions, relationship challenges, and transition to college. I work with adults, older adolescents (16+), helping professionals, LGBTQIA+, couples and relationships of all structure. I focus first and foremost on on the uniqueness of you and what you tell me needs to change. I have trained at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University and Eden Theological Seminary, both here in St. Louis. I also have advanced training in psychodynamic therapy and family systems (work about how the past and family dynamics might impact you now). My social work training reminds me of the importance of looking at each individual in their whole context - where they live, who they love, what they value. My seminary training keeps me humble - we are all part of a larger story of this universe and the meaning we make of it. I endeavor to be anti-racist and am LGBTQIA+ affirming and competent. I am a lifelong learner and search out new trainings each year to keep me competent and informed of the most useful tools for your therapy, and more importantly, for you to leave with hope. I have in-person or virtual options. In-person is centrally located in St. Louis County to cover adjacent areas. *The above quote is by Pema Chodron, and the "You" photograph is my image taken from Barbara Kruger's art installation, “Thinking of You. I Mean Me. I Mean You," which explores self, power, and vulnerability. I put them on my page, because art and creativity are important to me. But more important, this struggle to be human is both confusing and amazing. With my own lived experience of developmental trauma and transformative life experiences that mattered in my own healing, I know we all deserve a chance to sort through our own story in order to find true transformation. And, we often need someone to walk bravely into it with us, free of judgment and with an eye to explore any forces that lock us away from who we truly are. If you stayed around to read all this, welcome to the work. I look forward to helping.
